We launched the “Black Voices of Mississippi” series to celebrate Black History Month, 2021. Each week, we ask some of our Black elders and community leaders to share their experiences of growing up and surviving in Mississippi. We hope to collect these stories to honor the legacies of Black trailblazers in our community and to create records for future generations to look back upon.
The primary work of the NAACP is done through our active standing branch committees. Standing committees are the engine that keep our organization moving, keeping us connected and engaged in all areas that impact our community. Learn more about the various committees and consider joining one that aligns with your passions, goals and abilities.
The NAACP is a respected organization whose ideals and mission have endured the test of time. My passion and sense of moral obligation to the NAACP’s values have increased with fervor with every challenge that has presented itself as a clarion call to our community.
The role of the NAACP, since its inception, has been to be a voice for the voiceless and hope for the hopeless by championing causes that confront systemic racism and ensuring the equality of rights for America’s citizens of color. When citizens of color win, we all win.
The struggle continues, and we invite you to partner with us as we continue to serve the vital needs of the least among us, thereby ensuring the rights and achievements of the rest of us. As much as I want to accomplish, I know there is more we can do as a team, so please join the NAACP
